As some of you may already know - I have been photographing families at the Ronald McDonald House in Toronto for the past 2 years. The Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC) is a non-profit organization that gives a home to families with critically ill children who must leave their own homes in order to seak medical care at a specialized children's hospital.
I find is so rewarding to be able to give back when families need it most. Its difficult for families at the Ronald McDonald House to find the time to have their photos taken in between medical appointments and surgeries, its hard to leave the house with a child who might have a compromised immune system or the financial cost of leaving your job to be with your sick child. As the family photographer for the Ronald McDonald House, it makes my heart soar with happiness when I'm around these children and their little smiling faces. Its such an honour to be able to give families the priceless gift of memories.
Families that stay at the RMHC are going through very tough situations - Donating to the house means you're taking some stress off by making sure they have what they need to make them feel at home. You're giving families what they need most: each other. The Ronald McDonald House in Toronto houses 81 families and 225 families visit the RMHC Family Room in the hospital each day!
